Last Tuesday our ward had their annual Pinewood Derby for the Cub Scouts. Tyler was excited and had fun making his car with Rod. They put a lot of weight in the back and glued it in place after making sure the weight was right. Then they proceeded to put the colors and lacquer on only to find that this made the car too heavy. So Rod had to drill a lot of little holes in the bottom of the car to get the car down to exact weight again. At the derby, Tyler was excited and hopeful that his car would do well. The track was electronic and computerized to get the exact time of each car as it crossed the finish. The cars raced on each of the four lanes and then the times were computed and the fastest car time was first place, etc. Tyler's car did great and won all his heats. When the whole derby was over, Tyler was happy to find out that his car took first place!!!!!! He received a certificate for first place at the derby and a whole package of Oreos from us. Way to go Tyler!!
